Herbet, Mr Triffid to you

Heavy Structue gel is great for creating textures with control. Tissue paper wrinkles lovely in water and glue for a veiny look.
Need to touch up, paint here and there. boom done almost. thoroughly enjoyed my day. Would you like some moss??

wedsnesday triffid

getting there, the head still looks like fabric though. we need sand for the roots and veins on the head and don't get me started on the leaves.

Triffid 3 day count down

Three more days to go. and THIS is what its looking like. :S

No, I'm pleased with how the roots are coming on, tissue paper dipped in Paverpol, moss, latex and paint. The head is a stretch fabric sewen on, Pavepol applied it stiffen this. This area has been troublesome as the head has to be very lightweight so the hinge/electircs and handle it and make it nod. Calico for example totally pulled the head shut.
The roots are nowhere near finished, need more moss and more 'tonal variation', bit of dry brushing.

I'm thinking of spray painting this head off-white, and painting latex and sculpting paint onto it and coloured veins, maroon?

It has NOT been named yet. But the doctors tell me its a boy.

yes IT MOVES!!

Finally I have built.
1. a wooden box/unit with shelf as a stand for my Triffid.

2. Created a metal frame of the Triffd
3. Added/attatched all the hinges and wires

4. And it works!

Not that I havent had problems, the hand(leave) movement in particular, as the wires go up the stem but then must go DOWN the arm. The wiring up has taken all day, one coffee, one red bull and a brewing headache but im very pleased with it, and have really enjoyed this part.

Below I give you my Video, the skeleton of the Triffid.
Now I've got to make it look shit-hot, 'as they say in barcelona' (i quote an ex tutor).
But what with? fabric, latex, polysterene, paper, cling film, moss, COLOUR.
weekend experiments and one week to do it. DEADLINE is the 26th MAY.
